In 2025, the Mekong Delta Specialty Festival returns as one of Can Tho’s most anticipated cultural events, offering visitors an immersive experience in the region’s rich cuisine, culture, and entertainment.

More than just a showcase of regional delicacies, this year’s festival also plays an important role in preserving and promoting local specialties and traditional craft villages of Southern Vietnam. It serves as a cultural bridge, introducing the unique heritage of the Mekong Delta to domestic and international visitors, while allowing them to discover authentic local flavors and gain a deeper understanding of the people’s way of life.
Scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 4, 2025, at My Khanh Tourist Village, the festival coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam’s Reunification, adding special significance to the event. Under the theme “Mekong Delta Specialties – A Journey of Preservation and Sharing”, the festival promises a colorful atmosphere filled with the charm of rivers and life on the water.
A Vibrant Festival of River Life
The festival will feature over 50 booths from various Mekong Delta provinces, including OCOP products, traditional Southern cakes, tropical fruits, and the famous My Khanh Countryside Market. Visitors will be treated to hundreds of regional dishes — from well-loved classics like Bánh xèo (crispy pancake), lẩu mắm (fermented fish hotpot), and grilled snakehead fish, to rare and unique delicacies — painting a vivid picture of the region’s diverse culinary heritage.

A highlight of the event will be the recreation of the My Khanh Floating Market, where over 40 decorated boats will bring to life the bustling atmosphere of riverside trade. Visitors can shop, taste, and take stunning photos while enjoying the authentic sounds of vendors calling out their wares — a nostalgic echo of the traditional floating markets of the past.

Beyond the food and scenery, the festival also gives local artisans and producers a stage to showcase their craftsmanship. Visitors can observe the live preparation of traditional specialties, gaining firsthand insight into the artistry and cultural stories behind each product.
Exciting Entertainment and Cultural Experiences
The festival’s entertainment lineup promises endless fun for all ages. Among the most anticipated highlights is the Floating Fruit Market area, where visitors can experience the vibrant trading scenes right on the water — a true reflection of local life in the Mekong Delta.
Adding to the excitement, pig and dog races as well as monkey circus performances will bring joy and laughter to both children and adults. The three-leaf boat racing competition will test teamwork and balance, offering visitors a chance to experience the thrill of river life firsthand. Teams will paddle through the waterways amid cheers and applause, creating a lively and unforgettable spectacle.
For those who love traditional performing arts, the Lô Tô Show by the Hoa Huong Duong troupe will deliver dazzling performances filled with humor, charm, and colorful costumes — a signature form of Southern Vietnamese entertainment.
